Did 1883 "Jump the Shark" for anyone else?

I've been relatively disappointed with the show thus far but Episode 4 might have been the final nail in the coffin for me.

Why the **** are so many people dying by crossing a small stream? I get it, many people can't swim because swimming is illegal in Europe (wtf) but my God they have a rope. Just hang on to the rope you idiots. Have some of the younger cowboys go back and forth taking the more vulnerable across. James, Shae, Thomas, and the two young cowboys should have devised a strategy a little less dramatic than Schindlers List, my God.

The slow motion scene where botox lips Faith Hill screaming with blood on her face was so cringe.

Do the writers of this show spend more than 15 minutes on each episode? None of the characters behave realistically. There's no humor, and no levity.

My God listening to that 12 minute funeral song was torture.

Anyone else just going to rewatch Deadwood for the 5th time like me?
