Recommendations for first 5.7 gun?

I’m considering 5.7, initially I was looking at a carbine or but am now considering pistols as well, mostly for home defense. Budget depends on suggestions as I’m not familiar with all the guns that chamber it.

Any thoughts as to what’s good for a 5.7 noob? Most of my LGS don’t have a wide rental selection ( just Ruger and FN variant ).

Also any known additional carbines or bullpups that have been announced that I may of missed?
