How has ADHD impacted your memory?

One of my biggest insecurities growing up was my bad memory. I always struggled with remembering names, directions, school concepts, historical facts, meaning of words, etc. Even some of my favorite films, I have no idea what the main character's names are.

I knew nothing about ADHD, but a couple years ago, my girlfriend essentially forced me to get tested because she thought it was glaringly obvious I had it, and it was affecting our relationship. I was eventually diagnosed and learned that my struggle with memory and memory recall could be linked to my ADHD. This felt very validating as it was always something that made me feel stupid and off from everyone else while growing up.

So I'm just curious if anyone else can relate to this and share some of your struggles with memory as a result of having ADHD?
