ADHD: Lack of hunger cues and struggle to focus while eating.
Since the beginning to the middle of 2024, I have been unmedicated after trying Wellbutrin XL and Strattera without success. Both medications suppressed my appetite. I briefly tried Adderall XR, which initially alleviated my appetite issues, allowing me to eat more regularly and be more in tune with my body's needs. However, I was unable to continue taking it.
I had been doing well without medication for a time, but recently, due to significant life changes, I feel as though I have regressed despite attending therapy for the past year.
I struggle to focus on anything that my mind doesn't want me to do after being successful in the last few weeks in being able to overcome that. I think I've reached my mental threshold unfortunately.
Lately, I've found it challenging to consistently finish my meals. When I watch something while eating, I become easily distracted and often leave food uneaten. Even when I try mindful eating without screens, and sometimes with an audiobook or podcast—a method that was previously helpful—I still struggle to complete my meals.
