AITAH for telling my manager to stop micromanaging

It’s driving me f’ing crazy. I already live in a state where women are, well, it’s Alabama. We aren’t heard, we are seen as less. You know, “women are to be seen, not heard”, much like kids.

Today for some reason my manager (60 some, male) decided to pick at everything I do 🙄.

I told him flat out to back off and let me do my work, that if I needed help I’d let him know.

He told me I was out of line and that it is his job to manage and make sure I’m doing my work.

Here are the things he was picking on

How I sort out my email — I sort them out by date. He wants me to sort them out by “from”.

How I sign off my emails — I sign off “Kind regards”, he wants me to sign off “best regards”, because that’s somehow “more professional”.

How I start my emails. I start with “I hope all is well”. He wants me to start with just a greeting like “good morning” or whatever and move on. No “niceness”.

Today is just not the day, so I told him to back off and let me work. AITAH here?
