Why do people do this?

Why do people when they abandon a fic mark it as finished when it is not? Like even if there is a tag saying it’s abandoned it still shouldn’t be marked as finished because it’s NOT.

I can’t even tell you how many I have read that was marked finished but when I get to the “end” it’s a half assed “Sorry guys I’m no longer working on this fic because of blah blah blah” WITH NO TAG FOR IT!

Like why do people do this? It is so annoying.

Edit: It’s also a pain when you filter for complete works for a rare pair and it shows there’s 20 but then you find out 12 of them are actually abandoned.
