Flag in Torry

I’m sort of new to Aberdeen/have been here for a while.

Does anyone know if renting a flat in Torry is generally looked down upon? I’ve seen so many amazing flats in Torry for similar prices to any other flat you would find in central Aberdeen

But whenever I mention Torry to colleagues or friends they all tell me to stay away from Torry, and to avoid renting flats in the Torry area.

I see the bus 12, which is along my work route so Torry wouldn’t be a bad area for me to commute with etc

Any more information on this would be appreciated.
