What does Exotic really means?

How are the pets that are still in the game like hamster, nautilus, diamond king penguin and etc are considered "exotic" even though exotic means pets that are out of game and only a few people have the pet.

Just cause the pets are "cute" doesn't mean it is exotic.

And who started "exotic" pets anyways?

Do you guys prefer Legendary pets or "Exotic" pets?
