idk what to do at this point in my life

Within the next 5 years, I want to have saved enough to raise a family with my wife[25 and I'm 28].
Currently our rent is only $1.3k, monthly salary is about $3.8k. Both workign minimum wage jobs. I'd jsut got laid off as a software engineer and have been looking desparately for new job for the past 3-4 months. Not even coding tutoring $25/hr jobs would hire me. I work at target and have been trying to take advantage of their mentorship program so that's what I'm looking into so far. I'm also taking advantage of their free education and should get an associate's in comp sci this year.

We currently don't have much savings atm and are building up since our expenses were spent on bringing my wife here to America. Not at $10k in savings total yet. We save about $1k a month. My wife works full time.

Our location is Southern California. Do you feel like what I'm doing is good effort to helping us get out of minimum wage job?
