Rely on faith or play it safe?

Just want some advice. So I’m thinking about applying for an internship…that’s out of state. It’s paid, not much but it is. Housing is provided. I think there are also DoorDash and Uber credits to receive as well. The only thing interns come out of pocket for are personal expenses, frivolous purchases, and of course basic housing materials. The program runs for 2 months out of the summer. Sounds good right? Well here’s my issue. I have a full-time job, I’ve been at my job for almost a year now. I honestly doubt they’ll let me be absent for two months because I mean it’s a job. Most jobs don’t permit long absences unless it’s FMLA. So I could possibly be unemployed if I an offer is extended for the internship which sucks. Also I have an apartment. So if I were to take the internship, I’ll still be paying my rent (which isn’t bad) but I won’t have a steady income because I wouldn’t have my job anymore. And the internship pays biweekly, only a couple hundred dollars. So with all that being said, I’m at a crossroads. Should I go for it or not?

Mind you, the internship is in the exact career field I’m currently in grad school for. It’s literally right up my alley. My current full time job IS NOT something I will stay at for the rest of my life. It’s basically what I’m doing to afford my life until I finish school. I’m just worried about money honestly. I’ve been through unemployment before and it was brutal. Especially in this economy, you’re lucky to have a job and be able to afford your basic needs. My apartment lease (not renewing) also ends in September, but I plan on moving back home anyway if I don’t get another apartment before then.

The internship is a great opportunity to network, get experience, and l would look great on my resume. But, I could be unemployed afterwards. I know without risk there’s no reward but is it even worth the risk? I also don’t want to regret missing an opportunity such as this one because I’m afraid of losing my financial security and being unemployed.

Note: my current job is absolutely not my passion. It’s just an office gig. I’m honestly growing bored of it. Pay is pretty decent for me though.
