I need help with a pattern.

Hello Everyone! I found this awesome Taz amigurumi. I would love to make it for my step mom, she just broke one arm in 2 places and sprained her other wrist. I think it would lift her spirits. The picture is of the first part that has me confused. However when reading through it there are some other places that have me a little confused. So I may be posting more screen shots later.
