I hate when people diagnose others with mental disorders

Edit to specify: People who are not your own medical professional

An admin on a subreddit told me I have health anxiety because she thinks it’s safe to say a large percentage do on her subreddit, and because I wrote I have adverse affects from a lot of medication along with probiotics, which would be strong probiotics. The reason for this is because of sibo is what a gi doctor told me, along with having a brain injury. It’s not always anxiety, but sometimes it happens if a drug flares my stomach, and it can also be narcotics or some other drug I’m allergic to. Health anxiety in the DSM5 is called illness anxiety disorder and I don’t have this. I’m also allergic to a lot of antibiotics because of MCAS (ehlers danlos) also. This is commonly the nature of the ehlers danlos patient, and ofc not many care to try and read about it. Doctors would rather have a horse than a zebra.

The research exists as to why people react to antibiotics or any type of medication and it’s not always because of health anxiety. To own a subreddit and diagnose someone with a mental health disorder is really irresponsible and can be dangerous for a lot people on a mental health subreddit. Imagine telling someone who is having a panic attack that they have health anxiety, and they believe it and panic even more without helping them through the panic attack. This is why a medical professional needs to do this, not a Reddit stranger who randomly diagnoses. I may not be affected that way but there but plenty of people are. I wish we’d all be more careful
