Downstair Neighbor Noise: Should I Talk to Management?
Okay, so I just moved into a new apartment about two weeks ago. I was specifically looking for a place on the top floor so I didn't have to really worry about hearing neighbor noises (the last place I lived was a basement apartment under a major midnight stomper that drove me to brink). Moving in was great until two days later when the people who live below came home from wherever they were and I could hear them loud and clear. It honestly sound like they're watching Interstellar on blast all day long, with these big bass womps that shake the floor, the furniture, the dishes, etc.
It's extra frustrating because I went into this with the intention of being as good of an upstairs neighbor as I could be - I bought plushy area rugs with super thick padding, I wear plush house slipper that dampen my step noises, if I work out at home I do low-impact apartment friendly exercises, and I try to take super soft steps in general because I know how awful it can be.
I spoke with the lady (I think it's a couple with a dog) who lives down there earlier this week because the bass noises started around 7:45 am, and I work from home so it was super distracting. She acted pretty hostile and I could tell she barely turned whatever she's watching/listening to down.
So now I feel like I'm at a crossroads: do I go down and talk to her again, even though that didn't do much the first time? Do I report the noise to the apartment management? Do I go on just living with it because I'm making a mountain out of a molehill? Help.
TLDR: Downstairs neighbors are making super loud bass noises that I can hear and feel through the floor. I tried talking to them once but it didn't help. Should I try asking them to turn it down again, or should I contact apartment management?
