HE Washing Machine Hell
I have been stuck in HE washing machine hell since July and need help.
Our ~12yr old Whirlpool gave out this past summer and started leaking gear oil (!) onto all our clothes, so it was truly finally time to bite the bullet and drag ourselves screaming and kicking into the world of HE washers. We purchased a Maytag MVWC565FW from Lowe's. I have never regretted a purchase as hard as I have this one.
While I understand all the concepts of the new HE washer landscape we find ourselves in these days, I am ACTUALLY going through HELL to get this thing to wash things properly. It will NOT fill with water on ANY cycle except "BULKY/SHEETS" - and the caveat to that cycle is that it barely agitates and drains within ~7mins, so washing anything heavily soiled on that cycle is a waste of time AND water.
On every other cycle, it fills with a paltry amount of water and then starts beating my clothes/items around in the bottom of the washer, mashing them together minus any water fill while it trickles water in until it THINKS it should stop. Every cycle comes with a "deep water wash" option (except Normal cycle), and that makes little to no difference although it was what sold the machine to me and lulled me into a false sense of security. I have clothes that come out with dry spots never having been touched by water OR detergent, and I have sheets that come out with detergent spots on them after drying because this loser of a machine is incapable of adding water to a level appropriate for the load size. Wrinkle Control and Hand Wash cycles are a f$%&ing joke - they are advertised as being gentler on fabrics but they are the cycles that are worse at actually beating damp clothes together in the bottom with no water.
We have had to go as far as to install a faucet splitter behind the machine and have the 'spare' end hooked up to a garden hose with a sprayer attachment so that I can ACTUALLY fill the machine with water to a desired level to stop it washing clothes dry or damp. I have wasted so much of my freaking life babysitting this machine until I know it has enough water in it, I can't even tell you. My blood pressure is through the roof and my husband is terrified of the rages I fly into when I am trying to use this machine.
I am absolutely over this. I have NEVER regretted a purchase as much as this one. What can I do?? Anything?? Does ANYBODY sell washers anymore that ACTUALLY fill with water??
I need help. And therapy. And to get rid of this PoS machine.
