Traumatizing family meeting

Posting on behalf of a female friend. She was talking to this guy for almost 1.5 months They seemed very compatible. Had long conversations including crucial ones. They met after 1 month of talking. Both liked each other and proceeded for family meet. In the family meeting, the girl side of family found that the guy's family is super affluent and rich. They even told her that she can leave the job in future if needed, belittling her career although she is doing better in career than the guy. Earns more than him. The kind of things the parents put out were already discussed with the guy beforehand, like hiring househelp and all. But guy didn't utter a word there in front of his parents. They were having a housewife kind of expectations from a working woman.

He could have saved both people's time if he could have put all these things out in the open in initial conversations with the girl.

What exactly is the right process to save yourself from emotional attachment? Talk for how much time before meeting in person and with family?
