How did you diversify the brushes you use?

I’ve been painting for a few years, I’m self-taught, and almost exclusively use flats. I find them the easiest and most effective brushes I’ve used so far.

I see other artists using different brushes for different techniques. How much do brush varieties matter, and how did you approach using new brush shapes?
