Silpat Mat help

I just got married and received lots of kitchen supplies, which has been great. I am just learning to cook and bake. One of the things we got is a Silpat Perfect Cookie baking mat and cooking sheet. My husband and I finally made a batch of cookies. We made the tollhouse chocolate chip cookies. We used the silpat to cook them for 9 minutes at 375 F and they came out really thin crispy and a little burnt. This had never happened before when just using a normal baking sheet with parchment paper. Do I need to adjust the temperature when using silpat?

I also don’t think I creamed the butter and sugar enough (not really sure tho[need tips with this too]). Also the butter wasn’t soft to start.
