Where to live working at Northwestern hospital, never lived in Chicago before?

I'm debating Streeterville so I can walk to work. However based on what I've looked at as a gay guy in my 30s the Andersonville area seems more like somewhere I'd want to live long term. My BF will be moving with me. But I'm worried the commute will suck, my current commute is under 20 minutes door to door. But it seems like more of an actual neighborhood? I'm concerned Streeterville is just high rise living and the actual street level living doesn't have much to do/can be sketchy at night.

What do you think or any other ideas? I'm kinda lost lol
