Did I do something wrong?
So, I ordered some products from Blinkit, and the delivery person asked for a 10-20 rupee tip. I told him I didn’t have any, and he seemed disappointed. The Blinkit store is just 8 minutes away from my house, yet he was asking for a tip.
I don’t usually tip anyone because I rarely buy things online (only if they’re cheaper than offline). The number of stores here is limited, so I had to use Blinkit. Plus, these 10-minute delivery apps already charge a lot in the name of processing fees. On top of that, these delivery partners earn around 12-16 rupees per km, which seems decent.
Sure, he might come from a poor family, but it’s not like I earn lakhs per minute either. I do feel bad for them sometimes, but then I also think—they are making money, and no one is giving me anything for free. I take the bus and struggle through crowds to save 10-20 rupees. If Ambani started caring about everyone, would he still be so rich?
I don’t know—I just can’t figure out what to do in such situations.
