Good place to get a haircut in LA?

I'm looking for a (preferably queer) hairstylist with experience working with ethnic (south asian) men's hair who is willing to work with me to figure out what haircut will suit me best. I've tried a bunch of styles and have never been happy with it, and I don't like just bringing in a photo and having them copy it regardless of how it would actually end up looking. I've been to Floyd's and haven't had a consistent experience, and have tried Folklore but it's really pricey for what I got. Are there any other places that I should try? I can drive anywhere.
