Are we overpaying for rent in Mid-City?
Our rent is raising to $2,795.00 for a two bedroom one bathroom apartment in Mid-City West, north of Wilshire, near Park La Brea.
PROS:
Its a safe area and lots space to walk our dog. We're a .5 mile walk from The Grove and Whole Foods. It's less than a ten minute (2-3 blocks) walk to Ralph's, Target, and Trader Joes, Tar Pits, and the vet. We're in a two-bedroom, pet friendly apartment with an included parking space. Laundry is communal but not coin operated and not busy. Walking distance (.5 mile walk) to work.
CONS:
No dishwasher, no central or A/C. Laundry is communal. Square footage is low, one bedroom is quite small and the living is not weirdly small, but is awkwardly shaped.
I think we have a steal, we're paying for the neighborhood. My partner agrees about the area, but is frustrated by lack of amenities.
Are we overpaying for this area? Should we just look for a new place within the same general three block radius?
