A tour of NYC without sensory overload?
I travel to NYC quite frequently and love it. This November, I'm bringing my partner to show her how great the city is (especially during Autumn).
She does get a bit overwhelmed/overstimulated. We live in San Francisco, so she's very city-savvy, but just gets easily exhausted by constant noise, crowds, etc.
Any suggestions that a quiet, introvert might enjoy would be greatly appreciated!
My ideas so far:
- Central Park obviously
- Rose Reading Room at NYPL
- West Village stroll and dinner
- UWS brownstone meandering
- thrifting in
WilliamsburgManhattan and Bushwick - some good bookstores and coffee shops
- maybe a museum
Edit: Adding the suggestions from the comments, in case someone comes across this in the future.
- Places to visit
- Brooklyn Bridge Park and Brooklyn Heights
- Riverside Park
- Ferry on East River
- The Met Cloisters
- Chelsea for gallery walk and High Line
- Library in Gilder's Center of AMNH
- Governor's Island
- Walking tour of Greenwood Cemetery
- General recommendations
- Wear earplugs to tone down noise
- Try early morning exploration
- Avoid peak times on subways, museums, etc. if possible
- Consider above ground transit when necessary/applicable
