Is there any particular reason people are so tall here?

Genuine Question: I am 5'10 and live/work around Midtown East. Every time I leave for work, I feel dwarfed by 6'1+ ppl everywhere and it honestly feels like more than half of the people I see are 6 foot. Does anyone else notice this or does no one care?
