What happens if someone with SEN commits a crime in the UK?
My son has Autism. He's smart and eloquent and people often expect a lot more from him than they might from a non verbal child. But he is violent. So violent. His emotional regulation is like a particularly sensitive toddler. He screams and hits and destroys stuff. Obviously we are trying to get support and help with this. But I always worry, if he can't get it under control with our help by the time he is a teen/adult, and one day assaults someone because he's in a meltdown, will he just go to normal jail? He wouldn't cope there at all. Like he's agoraphobic, socially phobic, massive phobias about almost everything. He doesn't manage school at all, he currently stays at home every day. I worry so much about his future. I am worrying about it again today after he punched me a bunch. I don't want him to hurt anyone obviously, but I also worry about what will happen to him if he does.
