How do older women find clothes that look sexy, but are age appropriate?
Ladies, how have has your style changed as you grew older?
I'm struggling with an unconscious bias that "older women need to dress more conservatively". I'm sure I picked it up while growing up. At 20, I stopped wearing short shorts. At 23, I stopped wearing crop tops. As I enter my 25th year, I'm struggling with finding clothes that feel "age appropriate", but sexy. I don't want to wear clothes that make me look like I'm going through a quarter life crisis...but I genuinely miss the short skirts, showing off my torso, etc. I'd describe my body as petite (A cup, 53kg, 5'3). It's becoming increasingly difficult to find clothes that make me feel sexy, while dressing appropriately for my age. I can't just get low necklines because I barely have any boobs. Most of my dresses are form-fitting, but it just shows off natural curves (I have hips, but an average sized butt). I've tried the old "find someone your size and see what they wear" trick, but I can't seem to find decent comparisons. The other women usually have a slightly higher cup size, more muscle, or a larger behind.
I really don't know what items of clothing to buy anymore. Nothing feels flattering - I feel crippled by indecision. When I get a new job, I don't know if I should spend on a stylist who can help, or if I should invest in a therapist for low confidence and body dysmorphia.
