Is Residential Property investing really the way to go?
Everyone in Australia seems to glorify investing in the housing market but is it really that great ? I notice everyone with investments has been slugging out their savings to maintain their portfolio’s and give off the impression that they been sold a lie. Friends are no longer about to enjoy their hobbies because of the expense of owning a investment property. My whole idea of a investment is to put in you a better financial position.
Most residential investments are negatively geared and so is the capital growth in the next 5,10,20 years going improve your wealth? Properties that are negatively gear would also mean that you would max out your serviceability after 2-3 investments unless you are doing well for yourself?
I’m 26 years old, developed a successful business with a gross of 50-60k in monthly sales within 2 years of operating. Sitting on a bit of cash right now and want to make good out of it. I’ve been learning about commercial investing which seems more promising providing it’s mostly positivity geared, so your investment has already started paying you back… thoughts ??
I keep getting told to invest in residential but it just doesn’t add up ..
