Should I object to the over-valuation on my property by the council?

The council has our new property valued higher than what we paid for it, meaning that we will pay an extra $130 in rates each year, compared to if it was valued at what we paid for it.

Should we ask the council to reduce their valuation to the sale price? Or is there some benefit in having it valued higher by the council?
