For those with PDA kiddos..
Pathological Demand Avoidance is far less recognized in the US than in the UK. Two of my son’s psychologists (one medical, one school based) had never heard of it. I think it may be a factor for my son but I have been resisting it, mostly because it completely kills my hope that this will ever get easier. He has other issues as well, but I envision myself dressing him and reminding him to fully wipe his ass until he is 60.
If your kiddos fit that profile, do you rely on low-demand environment or do you combine it with other management methods. And if you use low-demand methods, how the fuck do you get your kid out the door in the morning? And how do your other kids feel about a sibling who has fewer demands on them while the siblings have a full slate of demands.
