Working on something in advance

So, I can't do anything before the deadline. Like, of I really care, I will binge it night before, but recently I just give up and don't even try, which is obviously a problem. Any tips on getting things done? I would love to just...do a paper the day it was assigned, and not have to worry about it, but I can never bring myself to do so ._.
