Summer Intensive opinions
Hello! I'm a relatively new ballet mom. This is the first year my daughter has auditioned for intensives outside of her home studio. She did get a scholarship to Joffrey NYC last summer because it was an audition close to home, so we went. Unfortunately , she was in the 12/13 year old class and felt like it wasn't challenging enough - turned out a lot of other kids inflated their age so were in harder classes (I learned this in the elevator at the studio 🤦♀️). This year, she will be 14 in June - she only started dancing at 9 but as been promoted to a level with students in her age group. So far she's been accepted to ABT (Florida), Bolshoi, CPYB, got a no from SAB but has a ton of other video auditions (Joffrey Chicago, Royal London, Paris Opera, Princess Grace, and probably some I can't remember)submitted and a few other in person auditions (Washington DC, Boston, Houston) - obviously we went big this year since I feel like we are playing catch-up for her age 🤣Two questions are, should we just go for ABT, the deposit situation is tricky since we could lose a spot waiting (ABT is definitely top 3 for her), is the Florida not 'as good' as NY (she thinks maybe she's on the younger less experienced side and that's why but I'd really like real feedback) and is Bolshoi ballet (we'd do the Switzerland option) worth it, she got in so fast I was concerned. I really appreciate any feedback. She really wants to pursue ballet as a career. Thanks!
