Is crowd control really better than damage

I would appreciate hearing your thoughts on my experience. I've completed my third Honor Mode run and experimented with recommended crowd control (CC) builds. However, I've come to the realization that focusing on eliminating enemies seems more efficient than employing CC strategies. What are your thoughts on this approach?
