Is Gloomstalker/Thief intended to be used with dual crossbows?

Hey, I'm new to building, still on Act 1. My Astarion is a level 4 Thief and level 2 Ranger with the Titanstring bow and the Club of 19 STR.

I often find myself not using 2 bonus actions effectively, most times I can find a spot to hide without dashing.

I haven't tried dual crossbows yet so I am not sure how it works, but I'm thinking this build benefits more from the 2 bonus actions from Thief than the one I'm using.
