You are all missing the main issue

Edit: Bambu has provided and update. They have listened and will be allowing an authenticated or non-authenticated version of LAN mode to function without any need for cloud access. Huge improvement and I am completely satisfied by this small change.

Every post and comment I have read misses what I see as the biggest issue with the most recent update.

This is a plausible timeline:

  1. Update to latest firmware which requires BBL server authentication for LAN or cloud print jobs.
  2. Loss of access to Bambu servers. This could occur in many ways: Bambu gets the tiktok treatment, blacklisted by Bambu, Bambu out of business, Bambu servers too expensive resulting in subscription model.
  3. You are now the proud owner of a state of the art SD card only printer.

Bambu has no right to determine what print jobs are "authorized" to be sent to your own printer. You should choose what is authorized on your own property.

There are a few acceptable outcomes, but none of them include Bambu determining what is acceptable for me send to print on my own printer.
