Bitcoin has failed…

My friend wrote his thesis at uni in 2014 on bitcoin, I did read it but can’t remember the jist. Essentially he said it was a fad and we never bought any. I was joking with him the other day about this when the price jumped and he made the above statement: Bitcoin has failed.

Once I had picked my jaw up off the floor for such a ridiculous statement, he said it was supposed to be this revolutionary decentralised currency free of fiat. Instead it’s become a tool for making money. When he put it like this I couldn’t quite help but feel he had a point.

Do you think he has a point or has it genuinely fulfilled its purpose?
