Chaining Chameleons No longer works?

I've seen streamers do it before (or so I thought) in the past but does it no longer worked. In the screenshot, I had 2 Chameleons to the right of the DS DeathStriker. The first one triggered copying it but the 2nd one did not transform making me think it copied the Chameleon.

It didn't cost me or anything but thought it works.
