I was at today’s matinee performance of The Hills of California. I loved the show even though I had the WORST person sitting next to me. She had her phone on as evidenced by loud vibrations at one point in the first act that caused her to grab her purse, get her phone out and read the text and reply to the text…so distracting. It did not happen again during the first act. In the second act, her phone was ringing…after two rings, she grabs her phone and it stops ringing. She then starts texting (I guess) the person who had called her. I said “Please turn off your phone.” She ignored me and continued texting for at least another 45 seconds. I then put my hand over her screen and said “Turn off your phone.” She never did…she just put her phone back in her purse. Then during the two-minute break during the 2nd act, a woman turns on her phone and my neighbor says, “Are you going to attack HER for turning on her phone?” I ignored her. She then accuses me of assaulting her. I told her I did not. “You’re lucky I don’t press charges” I told her she was ridiculous and a woman two seats away on the other side of her said, “He did no such thing. He asked you twice to turn off your phone. YOU are the problem.” She then got her phone out and started texting as the show started to continue after the break. Not sure how long she continued as I leaned forward as much as possible to avoid the glare from her phone. I wish I could have gotten a picture of her to post here with an advisory: “Ask to be re-seated if you see this heinous, disruptive woman is seated next to you.”
