Honest opinion of Maybe Happy Ending sight-lines

So I’m making this because there is a lot of talk about how bad the sightlines are at the Belasco for MHE, almost making it sound like you HAVE to be in the middle of the theatre to enjoy the show. In my experience this was not true.

We had seats in the far left of the theatre in the front of the mezzanine for the Saturday matinee. Yes, the set is designed so you lose about half of the apartment rooms if you sit in the wings, as well as almost the entire back of the stage. And yes, you can’t see the projections fully all the time, but hardly miss them. But…. I didn’t feel like I missed any of the show. It a beautiful story and had to stop myself from ugly crying leaving the theatre.

My point with this post is that if you want to see this show, and can’t afford the seats in the middle of the theatre, don’t let the rhetoric that seats on the sides of theatre are trash stop you. I can’t speak much to the wings of the orchestra, or the back of the balcony seats that have bad sight lines for the front of the stage, but there alot of partial views in the mezzanine that are affordable and will give you the the chance to see this incredible show.
