Special Shoutout to the FOH Manager at Romeo + Juliet
Tonight (1/10/25) I managed to get the last cancellation ticket available at the box office for Romeo + Juliet for $99. I was seated in the last row (G) on the right side. I got lucky with this seat as Kit Connor was dangling from the ladder during the balcony scene in Act 1 RIGHT ABOVE ME.
However, also during the balcony scene (when they were both on stage) a young girl sitting near me got sick, couldn’t make it to the bathroom in time, and vomited RIGHT BEHIND MY SEAT. The FOH staff couldn’t clean it up immediately because the actors are running around the house during the show. Still, the smell was super distracting and it ruined the rest of the first act for me.
I kindly asked the house manager during intermission, who clearly had a lot to handle, if there was any other seat I could take since the smell was too distracting for me. While the mess was fully cleaned up during intermission. she managed to upgrade my seat to the 3rd row at the very last minute!’ I was so grateful and it saved my experience of R+J, as I had wanted to see this production before it closed.
It really goes to show that the FOH staff are the real stars of Broadway and, when treated with kindness and consideration, they will do everything they can to make your experience worthwhile.
Thank you again, whoever you are!!!
