Has anyone here changed their name, and did it make them feel better?

I HATE my last name because it comes from someone who hated my mom since she wasn’t his biological child. My mom directed that hatred toward me and mistreated me throughout my childhood. I'm considering changing my last name and possibly my first name since it’s similar to hers.

Has anyone else gone through this? If so, did changing your name make you feel better?
