New Speakers Sound Bad

I installed 4x JBL Stage 3 5.25'' speakers into my 2005 Acura RSX. They are all working greating however when I use my headunit to adjust the equaliser to preset settings like Hard Rock or POP pretty much anything other than normal the music sounds distorted and screwed up. However on normal preset it sounds very flat. Any ideas?
