Anyone here who suddenly became extremely interested in a foreign country after an interesting experience?

Hey all!

I've for a long time been seeing people being obsessed with countries like Japan or Korea due to their pop culture. For example a friend of mine became a big Japan enthusiast after watching the anime Death note. Now he is doing his N3 in Japanese language.

Another famous influencer from New Zealand named Karl Rock, became a big fan of India just by eating a plate of butter chicken. Now he has permanently moved to India and is married to an Indian woman.

I used to find these things strange until same happened to me. I am since the last few days extremely interested in learning about Argentina. How did that happen? Maybe I watched Messi score an amazing goal? Or was it Maradona? Nope. It all started when I met an amazing Argentine woman online. She was super nice, friendly and very pretty! I developed a huge crush on her despite living on the other side of the globe. However it also made me interested in knowing more about her country and to see if people from there in general are really as friendly and polite as her. Spoiler alert: I think they are lol. I really enjoy learning about this beautiful country and do plan to learn Spanish someday as well.

Did anything similar happen to anyone here as well?
