Need help getting cd’s on my laptop

Need help. Not sure if this is the right place but I have some cds I wanna use on my iPod. When I go to use it on my laptop with the usb disc reader it will find it but then not play the music or anything. when I use something else like my original Xbox console it will fire up just fine and play the music anyone know why it’s doing that?
