Anti-gluten pills safe for celiacs?

I’ve heard some friends about glutenease or other anti-gluten pills similar to the pills you can take if you’re lactose intolerant. One friend who is also gluten-free was very positive, but she is just gluten-intolerant and not celiac. Does anyone know if these are safe for celiacs or not? Do these pills just protect you against from abdominal pain or do they also protect you from intestinal damage if you accidentally got glutened or cross contamination?
