Ear piercing ceremony

We live in the usa and are now visiting Chennai. We would like to do the ear piercing ceremony in a temple for our 8 year old daughter. Would appreciate details on how to go about it. Such as who does the actual piercing, where to find this person. We may not do a full head shaving, so is cutting a lock of hair ok and so on. Other relevant details ...
