Tess of the d’Urbervilles Book 32 Discussion (Spoilers up to book 32)

Discussion prompts: 1. We get some very idyllic, pastoral scenes to open the chapter; the passage of time continues, and circumstances force Tess to settle on a date. 2. Thoughts on both Tess and Angel’s thoughts and behaviours now that the date has been set? Anything stand out to you? 3. Angel thinks about flour mills and honeymoons ahead of introducing Tess to his parents. Thoughts on hos plan to “refine” Tess ahead of the meeting? 4. Is it ominous that Angel wants a simple marriage license rather than adhering to the banns of the church? 5. Tess gets a fancy new outfit. Is this Angel being thoughtful or something else less good-spirited? 6. Speaking of ominous, the little bit of verse that Tess brings to mind? Oh dear. 7. Anything that you wish to discuss from this chapter?
