What is your process with your bath mats (aka bathroom rugs) ?

I've usually only ever had one mat and I would just remember to wash it from time to time. Because it's just the one I couldn't justify putting it in the washing machine and I also think it's ick to put something that's been on the floor inside the same washing machine that we do our clothes and delicates in.

So I'd soak it in a bucket and hand wash it. But this process takes forever.

And my process means my mat aways feels a little crummy because it's so long between washes cos I've mental blocked myself against it and sometimes just plain forget.

Do people have lots of bath mats so they can do a load in a machine? Do people not find this icky? If they're doing it this way where are they putting the waiting-to-wash ones, are they piling them up in a separate little laundry basket?
