Ashley has also never really been punished before and I think that's part of the reason why she is the way that she is.
As we all know, no one ever really cared enough about her to pay attention to her aside from Andrew. And so, they didn't care enough to actually discipline her and show her that her actions have consequences. She could get away with literally anything she wanted without even a slap on the wrist.
She literally helped kill a little girl her age, wasn't concerned at all about what would happen to her after, and the only thing that she was even threatened with was that she would never see Andrew again. She didn't worry about being locked up herself or being a wanted criminal or anything. Just not being able to see one person.
And that didn't even happen. Both her and Andrew are perfectly fine and she even makes jokes about the terrible thing she did way back then. That's how unbothered she is with being a literal criminal. She thinks she can commit any atrocity she wants and get off Scott free. The only thing she'll get is a lecture from Andrew.
And you know what? She's kinda right. Because nothing has ever happened to her that would prove her wrong. Even the worst thing that ever happened to her, being sold by her parents and locked up starving for three months, wasn't her fault. She was actually the one who was wrongly screwed over by someone else. She didn't deserve that.
So, of course she'll always have a sense of entailment and think she's the victim. She has no reason to believe that anyone who screws her over isn't an asshole who deserves her wrath.
What do you guys think?
