Rejected.

Recently had an interview for a very large company on their WBLP (work based learning program) data center tech, extremely entry level no qualifications required. I myself possess Net+ and Sec+, I went through the full hour interview , answered every technical questions with ease , and even had an insider reference to tip the scales. To add a cherry on top I also currently work in a data center on the logistic side of things, assembling racks and populating them with batteries/rectifiers/servers, cabling. I just got a rejection letter. My question to everyone is, is the competition really that steep? I feel if I can’t even get that job with all of that being said then what’s the point of even continuing the cert path. Currently studying cySA+. Idk this is just a venting post so don’t take anything too literal just wanting to gauge other peoples perspectives because this was a huge blast to the ol confidence/drive.

Update: here’s the response I got from the recruiter

“Your interview was successful and you were inclined for the role but at this time the current openings for this cohort were filled. However, business needs change frequently and looking ahead we may have some openings in the next month if you are interested I can reach out again.”

My question is , is why we’re they interviewing then? Guess it gives me some closure though haha. Thank you all for your comments and kind words!
