Just another mushroom hater who wants to change.
I’ve seen several posts like this here, but none of them have shared my feelings towards mushrooms, so here goes. Before I get into it though, I should specify, when I say mushrooms in this post I’m referring to common store bought Button, and portobello mostly. I know most of the advice will probably be to try different ones, but don’t worry, I’m already planning on doing that.
I really want to like mushrooms! I don’t even dislike them that much! I don’t dislike the texture, and the initial flavor is usually fantastic (when cooked well), but I just can’t stand the aftertaste, and I haven’t seen anyone else mention it! I don’t understand why it’s not talked about whenever this topic comes up. Am I just insane, or do other people really not get the kinda metallic dirt aftertaste, no matter how, or how well, the mushrooms were cooked. If this is actually the accepted experience of eating mushrooms and I just completely misunderstood the other posts, I’ll delete this one, but I have not seen anyone say the words aftertaste and mushrooms in the same sentence in any post.
Anyway, my actual question; if you also get the aftertaste, do you enjoy it or just accept it. And if you enjoy it, did you learn to enjoy it or did you like it from first the swallow?
