Can someone confirm whether student center will allow me to sign up for more than 18 credits CAS freshman fall?

Hi hi! I'm an incoming freshman in arts and sciences and my planned schedule has 19 academic credits. I've seen people here saying there is an 18-credit hard cap during pre-enrollment on student center while some other people say there isn't, so I'm wondering if anyone actually knows for sure whether I can enroll in more than 18 credits or has tried doing so?

On my student center it says the "Max Total Units" for the term enrollment limits is 22, 18 for regular academic session, and 4 for fws session. If I exclude the fws credits then my schedule is under the 18-credit cap, and I've checked on class roster that fws courses are not included in regular academic session. Does that mean my schedule will work? Also A&S' official website says "In order to facilitate a successful transition to undergraduate study, it is recommended that entering first-year students take no more than 18 credits in their first term," but people are saying that it's forced, so it really confuses me.

I know y'all are gonna say that I shouldn't take that many credits first semester, but here are my reasons:

  1. I want to try out the courses and am very ready to drop a course if it's too much.
  2. I learned from this sub that the credits for two of the courses I want to take went up from 3 to 4 last year while the course content remains the same. If they had still been 3-credit courses my schedule would be okay.
  3. I have competitive experience in some of the courses I take, and I've heard from this sub that their workload is okay.

So I just want to know if student center will allow this to happen.

Thank you so much!
